We are currently booking maintenance, repairs, and other work for planned outages for Spring 2023. Get in touch with us to check our availability and get us on your site while the getting is good.
Are you prepared for your next planned outage? Taking the time to pause operations to do the necessary work on your infrastructure is essential to any production facility. You want to maximize the return you get from your planned downtime so you can increase the efficiency of your plant through your busiest seasons.
The more effective your planned outages are, the less frequent your unplanned outages will be. Especially now, in the era of a “new normal” where plant operators are facing challenges from labor shortages to supply chain issues, keeping your plant operating at maximum capacity is a huge challenge.
If you’re short on materials or expertise, Motus Group can help. We are experts in Activated Carbon (ACI) and Dry Sorbent injection (DSI) systems and sourcing/operating general bulk material handling equipment. For years, we have helped dozens of plants all over North America bridge the gaps so they can stay online, longer, to keep their crews employed and the revenue moving.
Planning an outage for Fall 2022? Let’s talk. Motus Group can provide critical support with:
- Comprehensive ACI and DSI equipment inspections (Sorbent Injection System Evaluation – SISE).
- Cleaning of critical injection system components such as manifolds and lances.
- Supply and replacement of essential consumable items such as filters, belts, and lubrication.
- Injection system optimization to ensure maximum efficiency for both sorbent delivery and dispersion.
The highlights of our Sorbent Injection System Evaluation (SISE) program include:
ON‐SITE EVALUATION: 55‐POINT INSPECTION
- Quantitative and Visual Inspection of ALL Equipment
- Wall Thickness Measurements of High Wear and Corrosion Equipment
- Feeding/Weighing Systems Calibration and Testing
- Identification of Sorbent Distribution Issues
- Material Handling Safety Concerns (NFPA, Housekeeping)
EQUIPMENT DEGRADATION ANALYSIS
- Measurements Added to Tracker After Each Inspection with the Goal of:
- Improving Equipment Life
- Predicting Equipment Failure
REPORT WITH RECOMMENDATIONS
- System Reliability & Performance Risks
- Recommendations to Reduce Costs and Improve Performance
- Recommended Maintenance to Prevent System Failures
- Spare Parts Inventory Recommendations
OPTIMIZATION STRATEGY
- Improved Sorbent Distribution
- Reduced Sorbent Usage
Our results-based approach to inspecting and servicing ACI and DSI systems regularly increases output performance while saving on costs. The examples below highlight some of the improved results we have delivered to clients who work with Motus Group.
FEEDER AND WEIGH SCALE ACCURACY IMPROVEMENTS:
GREEN – Hopper weight PINK – Feeder VFD speed LIGHT BLUE – Demand feed rate
YELLOW – Actual feed rate as calculated
- Before inspection, feed rates were erratic and indicated that feed rate was well above demand
- After Inspection, feed rates were consistent and correct when correlated closely with demand
- Conclusion:
- Scales were out of calibration and returned an inaccurately calculated feed rate
- VFDs were capped based on old throughput capabilities
- The plant was out of MATS compliance
- Calibrating scales and calculating maximum throughput allowed for changes to be made which resulted in more accurate data and an almost immediate return to MATS compliance
EDUCTOR WEAR DETECTION:
- Eductor wall thickness measurements can be compared to adjacent eductor wall thickness to determine wear and potential failure
- Eductor wear isn’t always uniform and can pick a path of least resistance that only targets part of the inner circumference
- The measurements from the inspection report on the right (circled) show substantial wear on the left side of the Train 1 eductor
As your equipment ages, preventative maintenance becomes even more essential. If your facility doesn’t have a planned outage scheduled anytime soon, it will become increasingly difficult to maintain continuous and efficient operations of your injection equipment. Fortunately, Motus Group can provide temporary injection equipment that will keep your plant compliant while critical repairs, calibrations, and upgrades are completed on your permanent equipment.
We still have some availability to assist with your facility maintenance for the fall 2022 planned outages. Let us know how we can help bridge the gap in your capabilities – just give us a call at 701.330.7474 or send us an email to talk with our engineers to see what’s possible.
