It’s a fact people in any industry don’t want to talk about: if it moves, it will eventually break. Maybe this is why we want the warranty on the new car or the option to get our money back in 30 days when the new tools break.
And while every manufacturer likes to claim that their product is tough-as-nails and will work in any condition, we all know the truth: it’s only a matter of time between implementation and the first major repair. The smartest managers working in heavy industry fields know to account for the inevitable downtime, which is why the Motus Group factors preventative maintenance into all the equipment we provide.
Our overall goal: to get your job site moving again. We know that movement means money. So what happens when the thing that moves the least needs the most maintenance?
Seriously, when was the last time you thought about your storage silos?
Between erosion and corrosion, the wear and tear from loading and unloading the silo, along with the storage of corrosive products, can cause all kinds of issues over time. Ignore these issues long enough and you might start running into emission compliance problems. The Motus Group are experts in maintaining, repairing, or replacing parts that are long past due – including your silos.
The biggest issue most job sites have with maintaining their silos? Getting them empty enough to work on. Fluidization equipment, silo coatings, and even the side-mounted level switches all require an empty silo to maintain. What if your silo is never truly empty? Or what if it takes months or years to finally empty the silo completely? Waiting around for the “right moment” could leave you with an increasingly expensive project or major housekeeping and NFPA issues, at the least.
Emptying the silo is possible but risky. You may end up losing product and your operating costs could go through the roof. Fortunately, we have perfected the method behind silo repair without wasting product or making a mess.
Our process removes the sorbent without needing to dispose of it. In fact, the product is reinjected back into the silo after the repair – ultimately saving you the cost of needing to replace the sorbent.
Once the silo is empty, we inspect and replace coatings and install any new equipment that may improve safety or performance. This includes a silo scrub-down and adding coatings to prevent wear or corrosion – ideal for those who use brominated PAC, which loves to eat steel structuring.
We also inspect and repair fluidization nozzles and deflagration panels. Nowadays, deflagration panels are highly recommended by NFPA for PAC silo use to mitigate potential deflagration events which could harm plant personnel or damage the silo and nearby beyond repair.
Whatever the case, silo or not, Motus Group offers a complete line of service and parts to keep your industry moving. We work with you to assess your current system, offer efficiency upgrades, replace parts worn down by use, and address wear-and-tear points. In other words: fix little problems before they become big problems. Motus Group keeps you moving today so you can think about tomorrow.
